Position Purpose:
Acting independently, develops manufactured Bills-of-Materials. Convert resulting product structures into detailed manufactured / purchased requirements (utilizing knowledge of operations and the supplier base) to support customer needs and meet operational objectives. Initiate, lead, and implement lean initiatives and other key projects. Perform complex technical studies as well as analysis of existing and proposed operations. Manage the implementation of engineering changes as well as the development, analysis, and management of inventory levels. Provide training and leadership for Material Planner I and II positions. Has close interaction and involvement with Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Accounting and Material Control is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
1) Apply advanced knowledge of CAD/CATIA to develop accurate and timely manufacturing BOM product structures for planning and control of materials and schedule.

2) Apply advanced planning techniques utilizing formalized MRP II systems and KANBAN to ensure acceptable levels of inventory and customer service.

3) Understand and establish planning parameters that ensure continuity of supply to Operations consistent with initial and Final Phase rates and supplier lead times.

4) Understand and utilize Master Schedule, AC build rates, and planning Bills-of-Materials when developing requirements and planning.

5) Initiate and lead meetings with Buyers, Analysts, Engineers and Operations personnel to ensure a continuity of supply to Operations.

6) Ensure system data integrity which impacts planning and supply chain processes.

7) Train and audit co-workers as well as Level I and II Material Planners as necessary.

8) Perform technical studies of a complex nature, conduct analysis of operations (existing or proposed). Recommend detailed methodology of complex assemblies and installations as well as components.

9) Initiate research, investigation, and analysis in connection with assigned planning to validate planning. Assist in make-or-buy proposals as needed.

10) Active involvement in key projects and implement lean initiatives as needed.

11) Posses full knowledge of the APICS planning hierarchy.

Unique Skills Required:
1) Strong written and verbal communication skills.

2) Daily interaction with Purchasing, Engineering, Design, Operations Material Control, etc.

3) Must be able to prepare status updates to Management on a routine basis.

4) Periodic supplier interaction.

Experience/Education Required:
- Education & Training Requirements; Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Engineering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience (at least eight (8) years of related experience of increasing responsibility) sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Minimum of six (6) years formal experience in requirements planning, initial phase planning, inventory control, or manufacturing engineering (MRP II).
- APICS and CMFGE Certifications preferred.Experience Requirements: At least eight (8) years experience using advanced spreadsheet and database tools.
- Comprehensive understanding in current materials, purchasing and manufacturing principles, and their application in an Engineer-to-Order and Make-to-Order environment (MRPII) as well as supply chain management strategies.
- Proficiency in reading or interpreting engineering drawings/specifications.
- Knowledge of KANBAN / Demand Pull Systems.
