Operations Manager III in Savannah, GA Unique Skills Required: The well qualified applicant will be familiar with heavy aerospace sealed structural assemblies. Preferable experience with wing assembly or like structure.
Experience/Education Required: - Bachelor degree in a related curriculum (Engineering, Management, Aviation Maintenance, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.Four (4) years supervisory experience in a technically related role (i.e. - aviation maintenance, general manufacturing).
Position Purpose: Manages the strategic operations of one or more departments to meet production requirements in an aircraft manufacturing operation. Mentors entry-level managers and interacts with internal and external customers to provide technical support. Executes company policies and procedures and constantly seeks process and performance improvements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: 1) Assigns production responsibilities, work plans and schedule requirements to department managers, leads and coordinators to ensure that all jobs are completed in a matter that satisfies FAA regulations.
2) Assists in the development and execution of the business units strategic plans to ensure that budget, product cost, productivity, inventory levels, delivery performance and quality objectives/expectations and operational goals are met throughout the department(s).
3) Manages and assists in the development of annual budgets and long range requirements. Ensures established corporate financial controls are met.
4) Develops and mentors entry-level managers to have the technical skills, training and certifications necessary to perform their job.
5) Coordinates with engineering, finance, materials, quality and other departments to ensure that schedules and budgets are met and problems are resolved.
6) Determines resource requirements and ensures that assigned department(s) has adequate resources to perform assigned tasks.
7) Develops, maintains, and meets or exceeds requirements for a safe work environment; ensures that stringent housekeeping, 5S standards, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, and safety procedures and practices are followed; ensures that tools/equipment meet safety requirements; leads trend and root cause analysis and accident investigations.
8) Plans, develops and executes manufacturing strategy for the department(s) encompassing Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement philosophies and concepts. Leads the implementation of Lean Six Sigma initiatives.
9) Promotes, encourages and leads assigned employees and MBU(s) towards continuous process and performance improvement.
10) Troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes and equipment already in operation while minimizing costs and preventing delivery delays.
11) Identifies and mitigates potential problems and conflicts in the areas of cost/employee relations/quality/productivity.
12) Develops and enforces quality standards; monitors and provides corrective action for workmanship issues.
13) Ensures employees know and follow the appropriate Quality Assurance Procedures (QAP). Conducts periodic audits of the department to track compliance. Identifies necessary changes in the QAP and coordinates with the Quality Assurance team to develop and implement revised or new procedures.
14) Prepares employees and work groups to meet future requirements through training and employee development activities.
Additional Functions: 1) As required, serves as back-up for senior manager. Provides input to senior manager on performance on entry-level managers.
2) Successfully performs special projects as assigned by senior management.
3) Maintains positive employee relations by providing an inclusive work environment.
4) Encourages innovation and ensures awareness of best practices across the company and manufacturing industry.
5) Continually strives to increase the competitive edge in quality, productivity, timeliness and employee relations.
6) Establishes process controls to ensure a FOD free environment.
7) Promotes a strong, healthy workforce through the utilization of the Corporate Ergonomist and EHS resources.
8) Actively supports corporate initiative in resource sustainability.
9) Ensures departmental emergency action plans support the business units Business Continuity Plan and can be executed in a timely and effective manner.
10) Performs other duties as assigned.

2) Must have demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing.
3) Proficient in the use of personal computer e-mail systems (Lotus Notes).
4) Proficient in using computerized database management (Excel) and presentation systems (PowerPoint).
5) Excellent verbal and written skills, to include strong interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade others without creating adversarial relationships. Overcomes communication barriers. Organizes and presents information effectively to large groups in public settings. Motivates others to act.
