Aircraft Comp. Repair Tech II in Dallas, TX Unique Skills Required: See Experience/Education Requirements.
Experience/Education Required: - HS diploma/GED. - Able to interpret blueprints, engrg docs and use precision measuring tools. - Proficient operation of all tools / equip in the dept incl glass bead & carboblast machines. - Must possess basic understanding of shop math.2 years related sheetmetal (production and / or fabrication) and / or hydraulic overhaul experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Position Purpose: Working with moderate supervision, performs overhauls, repairs, and tests to Gulfstream landing gear, engine thrust reversers, both individual sheetmetal parts and external and internal aircraft assemblies, and various other components in accordance with Gulfstream Repair Station rules and specifications.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: 1) Remove, fabricate / replace and install/reinstall aircraft repairs from blueprints, verbal instructions, engineering dispositions, Structural Repair Manual in accordance with Repair Station requirements.
2) Remove, order, rebuild and / or reinstall necessary component(s) for return to in-service status.
3) Inspect all detail parts using blueprints, Structural Repair Manuals and/or overhaul manuals to ensure reassemble requirements are met. Maintain and use all required paperwork in accordance with FAA Repair Station requirements.
4) Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Comply with all company and OSHA safety regulations.
5) Removes skins and related components on flight controls and secondary structure components (i.e., trailing edges, top and lower leading edge skins, thrust reverser barrel skins, trunnion skins). Fabricate necessary tooling (wood and metal mock-ups to locate and install/reinstall parts).
Additional Functions: 1) Lays-out, removes, fabricates and / or installs major and minor repairs to flight controls and other secondary structure components (i.e., honeycomb core sandwich construction techniques, composite repair techniques, test bench operations, hydraulic press operations, servicing carts)
2) Fabricate and repair sheetmetal and associated mechanical parts, components and / or equipment by rolling, shrinking, stretching, braking, riveting or other mechanical means.
3) Remove and install APUs and perform all required APU maintenance for ALL Gulfstream aircraft models. Read and understand Gulfstream and Honeywell Maintenance Manuals.
4) Help maintain proper levels of shop supplies.
5) Assist with training and instructing of Aircraft Component Repair Technicians.
6) Perform other duties as assigned.
