Production Quality Manager in Savannah, GA Unique Skills Required: Ability to interact with management to resolve project issues with regard to certification, conformity, resources, and cost. Ability to manage personnel with expertise in concurrent engineering, quality control inspection planning, supplier quality, conformity, certification, quality systems and regulatory practices.
Experience/Education Required: - Bachelors degree in aviation sciences, quality systems or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.Six (6) years quality assurance/control, manufacturing operations and/or military operations experience is required, of which at least three (3) years are in a supervisory capacity. - Aerospace industry experience preferred.
Position Purpose: Responsible for providing managerial and technical oversight of production quality assurance or inspection policies and procedures. Manages specific section of the department and implements plans and instructions to support departmental policies. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and develops and promotes a good working relationship with local regulatory authorities. Ensures a safe and quality product is delivered to our customers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: 1) Monitors all production quality assurance and/or inspection functions conducted within the assigned area of responsibility.
2) Oversees the conduct of conformity inspections related to production operations.
3) Supervises all inspection personnel within their area of responsibility.
4) Coordinates scheduling and manpower assignments to aircraft.
5) Actively identifies and completes process improvement projects related to achieving improved quality or efficiency within their area of responsibility.
6) Monitors workflow and progress and ensures that standards/expectations are met; assist Coordinators in resolving issues.
7) Coordinates activity with other departments and/or disciplines.
8) Develops and maintains a FOD free environment.
9) Interprets and executes company policies and procedures; develops new procedures as required.
10) Develops processes to identify and highlight quality trends and makes recommendations on potential corrective actions
11) Utilizes statistical analysis, capability assessments, audits and reliability models to ensure all products meet and/or exceed design and/or system performance requirements and customer expectations.
12) Promotes, encourages and leads employees towards a continuous improvement culture. Lead the implementation of Lean Six Sigma initiatives.
13) Active in promoting a strong, healthy workforce through the utilization of the Corporate Ergonomist and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) resources.
14) Actively supports corporate initiative in resource sustainability.
15) Ensures departmental emergency action plans support the business units Business Continuity Plan and can be executed in a timely and effective manner.
Additional Functions: 1) Prepares Quality assurance or inspection team to meet future requirements through training and employee development activities.
2) Supports and promotes the operating priorities as identified by the leadership team.
3) Manages all aspects of assigned quality personnel to include hiring, work assignments, workspace and equipment, training, performance appraisals, career development and counseling.
4) Maintains appropriate manpower levels.
5) Strives to meet company diversity goals/objectives through proper hiring, promoting, transferring and compensation practices.
6) Provides oversight and final approval for all personnel within operations selected for Q or PQ stamps.
7) Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements: 1) An Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license is not required but may be used in combination with four (4) years of related quality experience (in addition to the experience requirements below) to offset the Bachelors degree.
2) Demonstrated experience and knowledge of FAA regulations, CATIA and Solumina preferred.
3) Thorough knowledge of quality policies, procedures and all related technical data required.
4) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
5) Knowledge of CMP, ASC, CB, ADs and other quality and manufacturing systems preferred.
6) Proficient computer skills.
