Aircraft Instrument Tech II in Lincoln, CA Alternate Location(s) Lincoln, CA - Unique Skills Required: Ideal candidate will have a strong background in overhaul and repair of pressure instruments, including altimeters, gyroscopes, air speeds, and engine indicators. Experience troubleshooting electronic instrumentation down to the component level. Able to work with small mechanical parts, such as small meter movements with minimal supervision. Very familiar with soldering of surface-mounted micro-components. Military experience with intermediate/DEPOT level aircraft instrument repair preferred. Possess personal leadership traits, demonstrate initiative and a positive attitude.
Experience/Education Required: - High School graduate or GED. - Two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics and/or instruments and two (2) years related work experience; or four (4) years experience in an aircraft instrument career field.Ability to read and interpret component maintenance manuals, basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
Position Purpose: Provides technical expertise in troubleshooting and repairing aircraft instruments to ensure minimum schedule impact; Demonstrates technical expertise by implementing process changes to reduce cost and meet schedule without compromising Safety or Quality. May fill in for the Sr. Instrument Technician thus insuring that the company goals of Safety and Quality are enforced at all times while adhering to daily work plans to maintain schedule requirements.Essential Functions: 1) Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in repair, operational testing, and troubleshooting of aircraft instruments.
2) Performs the repair and functional testing of instruments and systems per Engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect free system.
3) Ensures quality and efficiency of all repairs: troubleshoots processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairs and workmanship.
4) Demonstrates the skills and knowledge required to effectively and efficiently repair or replace defective components to ensure instruments meet conformity. Demonstrates effective repair techniques using acceptable practices including soldering, use of small hand tools, and test equipment.
5) Perform and comply with engineering changes and modifications as required.
6) Sets up and operates necessary test equipment: conducts functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
7) Ensures that all work performed is properly and completely documented and ready for inspection.
8) Tests and maintains test equipment, electronic systems, and components.
9) Comply with the company policies and all safety regulations.
10) Performs other duties as assigned.
