Position Purpose:
Develops and implements Lean Manufacturing strategies across Initial Phase Operations through the use of advanced manufacturing concepts and philosophies in order to provide a more cost efficient and higher quality product.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
1) Assists in preparing, conducting, and analyzing manufacturing improvements and problem solving.
2) Provides input to the manufacturing vision and strategy encompassing Production, Material, and Information Systems for assigned area applying lean manufacturing principles as appropriate.
3) Analyzes existing processes across Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality by applying Value Stream Mapping and Critical Path Analysis
4) Independently creates and manages project implementation plans across multiple organizations.
5) Investigates, evaluates, creates, and implements department rearrangements, advanced technologies and manufacturing techniques, engineered solutions, employee suggestions, and make-or-buy proposals by conducting sound due diligence and ROI investigations.
6) Facilitates lean practices.
Additional Functions:
1) Applies Lean Six Sigma methodologies as appropriate
2) Performs other duties as assigned
Other Requirements:
1) Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification highly desirable.
2) Must work well within a team environment and have sound problem solving skills.
3) Must be able to combine aggressive initiative with professional discipline to accomplish difficult tasks
Unique Skills Required:
Possess critical skills in the areas of Project Management, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma Methodologies.
Experience/Education Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or Business Administration Required.
- Masters Degree in one of the above mentioned disciplines is highly preferred.Extensive theoretical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
- Extensive theoretical knowledge of Engineering Theories and Principles.
- Related Co-op, Intern, and/or other full-time work experience beneficial and highly desirable
