Mechanical Team Lead

Position Purpose:
Assist STM with planning and coordinating maintenance activities during the inspection, maintenance, and repair of customer aircraft to ensure the customer receives total support. Perform a variety of aircraft modifications, maintenance functions and sheet metal repairs/modifications.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
1) Assist STM with planning, scheduling, and completing tasks on work authorizations in order to meet the master schedule. Act on behalf of STM in his/her absence and assume the duties and responsibilities of the STM when assigned.

2) Assist STM with supervision and instruction of aircraft technicians in proper procedures and techniques of trouble shooting airframe and engine systems, routine inspections and preventive maintenance. Assist with performance appraisal of subordinates.

3) Assess strengths and weaknesses of subordinates. Apply strengths for maximum job efficiency and provide guidance and growth opportunities to reinforce developmental areas. Provide diverse learning opportunities.

4) Order parts to ensure timely availability. Monitor material costs. Regulate and coordinate part purchases to enhance job efficiency and avoid restocking charges. Send items out for repair or overhaul. Receive and inspect upon return. Perform engine runs on aircraft as required.

5) Maintain a current knowledge of Aircraft Service Changes (ASCs), Customer Bulletins, inspection schedule requirements, vendor information and all other procedures, publications and general knowledge pertaining to aircraft maintenance and servicing.

6) Perform required periodic maintenance and necessary servicing of all aircraft mechanical systems. Must demonstrate the ability to consistently perform assigned maintenance tasks within the quoted or standard CMP time.

7) Perform post and pre-flight inspection and trouble shoot mechanical malfunctions such as fluid leaks and minor structural damage.

8) Follow standard operating procedures when operating ground support equipment, such as power supply, hydraulic rig, nitrogen filler cart, and oxygen service cart. Operate and supervise use of special support equipment used in removal and installation of major components.

9) Assist in maintaining work schedules and updating of CMP cards. Review work, including forms and records, to ensure compliance with Gulfstream Repair Station procedures and FAA Airworthiness Standards.

10) Apply 5S and Lean Initiatives to maintain good housekeeping and safety in all areas to include hangars, break areas, and offices

11) Perform other duties as required.

Other Requirements:
1) Advanced working knowledge of pertinent technical reference materials (maintenance manuals, IPCs and structural repair manuals, service bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, etc)

2) Essential personal skills include strong leadership ability, tact and diplomacy when working directly with customers and strong communication skills.

3) Organization in planning and accomplishing daily tasks, effective teaching skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to solve problems and adapt to sudden change.

4) Must be able to read and interpret maintenance manuals, IPCs, CBs, ADs, CMP cards, engineering orders and blueprints.

5) Must be able to work any shift.

6) Must be able to use computer.

Unique Skills Required:
Gulfstream Service Experience

Experience/Education Required:
- High School graduate or GED.
- Airframe and Powerplant license required.
- Valid Drivers License required.Minimum of 6 years experience with advanced knowledge of inspection and heavy maintenance of large and/or mid-size aircrafts.
