Unique Skills:

The Director of Propulsion opening will be supporting our supplier Rolls Royce. The ideal candidate for this role, at Gulfstream, will have the following experience:
- Propulsion and/or propulsion supplier experience
- Willingness to travel up to 50% including both domestic and international travel

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related curriculum required. Master's Degree preferred. Ten (10) years related Procurement, Operations or Supply Chain Management experience to include 5 years of progressively responsible management or program management experience.

Position Purpose:
The Director of Propulsion systems will be responsible for leading a team of procurement professionals through the develop process of new propulsion systems for Gulfstream aircraft. This person and their team will work with the propulsion supplier team and sub-tiers in order to execute the timely delivery of a certified propulsion system for GAC new aircraft programs.
This Director may also manage the tactical management for delivery and product support of propulsion systems. The director will be responsible to support RQATT, production meeting, and EIS of new programs. The main focus of this position will be the launch and EIS of new programs for GAC aircraft programs.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions: 1. This position must directly influence, at the executive level, competing resource and financial demands from Engineering, Program Development, Program Management, Finance and Production Operations in order to achieve corporate financial goals. 2. Develops collaborative approaches to enhance cross-functional and cross-corporation processes (i.e. PCMT, GD Direct Supply Chain Council, etc). 3. Maintain knowledge of legal, economic, market and technical developments that affect procurement activities. 4. Use adaptive and resilient interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a broad spectrum of constituencies. This includes the executives of domestic and international corporations to negotiate and resolve business critical dealings and agreements. 5. Initiate and maintain essential contact with management of all functional areas as well as external contact with supplier management to exchange information and resolve problems encountered daily. 9. Work with engineering, advanced programs, and operations to develop commodity strategic plans. 6. Represent organization in a variety of weekly meetings providing project updates, identification of issues and establishment of resolutions. 7. Effectively integrate all functions involved in meeting requirements and assure that proper communication and understanding is achieved on all aspects of contract fulfillment. 8. Represent organization externally as required. (Supplier Conferences, Small Business/Diversity supplier functions, etc.) Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements: 1. Experience or educational base of Lean and Lean principles, with respect to Supply Chain Management are required. 2. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, finance, engineering, and program management preferred. 3. Aircraft build and component knowledge is strongly preferred. 4. Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. 5. Ability to influence others in a matrix organization and work cooperatively with other disciplines.
